LIBRARIAN - SERIALS ACQUISITIONS: Dynamic urban academic library seeks creative, energetic, flexible individual with strong public services commitment. Reports to Assistant Director for Technical Services; supervises 3 staff, several student assistants; manages and positions for the future the serials acquisitions operations for multi-site library system. (Includes electronic licensing; vendor assignment, evaluation, negotiation; acquisitions audit trail maintenance.) Participates on team developing technical services plans, policies, procedures that support the Libraries=3D service mission, maximize effective operations. Professional development encouraged, required for promotion in ranked, non-tenure track position. III integrated system linking all University of Missouri, St. Louis University campuses. UMKC, in large area of green space and trees, is located in the heart of one of America=3Ds most affordable and attractive cities. =20 Minimum requirements: ALA accredited MLS; successful library acquisitions experience; exceptional interpersonal, communication, planning, organizational skills; ability to work positively, productively with diverse constituencies in environment of rapid change; understanding of scholarly research environment; evidence of professional initiative, mature judgment; potential to meet promotion requirements in non-tenure track appointment. Preferred: Successful serials, supervisory, management, electronic licensing, collection development experience; experience with automated acquisitions system; knowledge of MARC formats, scholarly publishing industry; working knowledge of major European language. Salary: $42,000 minimum. Benefits include health/dental plans, 75% tuition discount. No employee contribution required for fully funded defined benefit retirement program, life and disability insurance. UMKC is an EOI.
