Royal Swets & Zeitlinger operating results reach 44.3 million euros

Royal Swets & Zeitlinger Holding, the world's largest provider of
scientific and professional information, today announced its results for
2001. The company's operating results for 2001 rose significantly by 28%
to 44.3 million euros, compared to 34.7 million euros in 2000. Swets &
Zeitlinger's 2001 net profits reached 24.5 million euros, a slight
increase over the 2000 figure of 24.3 million euros caused by
non-recurring charges of 3.2 million euros.

Swets & Zeitlinger achieved the turnover figure of 1.1 billion euros, a
slight increase of 1.3% compared with the 2000 figure of 1.1 billion
euros. The number of subscriptions handled by Swets Blackwell, the holding
company's largest division, heavily influenced this turnover figure.

By expanding its range of internet services to the business market, Swets
& Zeitlinger expects to see significant growth in the years ahead. Chief
among the new services introduced is SwetsWise, a web-based service for
the procurement, access and management of subscriptions and online
information launched by the company's Swets Blackwell division. The
service gives Swets Blackwell's librarian and purchasing professional
clients direct access via the internet or an e-procurement system to a
catalog of 250,000 serial publication titles. More information about the
new service can be found at www.swetsblackwell.com/swetswise

Swets & Zeitlinger expects that its operating results will rise
significantly in 2002 compared to the year 2001. Net profits which were
affected by non-recurring charges in 2001 will also rise significantly in
2002.
