Forwarded from Nuria Comellas ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Tue, 15 May 2001 17:46:05 +0000 From: Nria Comellas <ncomellas@CBUC.ES> Subject: Why some libraries and consortia are paying too much for e-infor *** Apologies for cross-posting *** The phenomenon of consortia or groups of libraries buying e-information together has become very important in the last few years. This new scenario, along with new forms of purchasing and selling e-information, have lead to new pricing models that haven't been fixed yet. However, most of these models are based on the Anglo-Saxon context, and some consortia and libraries outside this area are paying a lot more for the e-information they are purchasing. The Consortium of Academic Libraries of Catalonia has released a statement about the pricing models applied to libraries and consortia outside Anglo-Saxon areas. It has been entitled "Why some libraries and consortia are paying too much for e-information" and you can find it at http://www.cbuc.es/5digital/55docs.htm Nria Comellas Consorci de Biblioteques Universitries de Catalunya C.
