Firm pricing is available for academic institutions, cf. http://www.nature.com/help/sitelicences/ordering/ac-pricing.html (Please note that the various figures for discounts given for multi-title purchases to the Nature monthlies and reviews in the table and the example are inconsistent (30%, 25%, 20%?) and that the calculation given in the example must be completely wrong. Apparently, Nature always has difficulties in getting the Math right. I have asked Nature in writing to clarify and correct this.) The pricing of the Nature Site Licenses is now similar to site licenses to Science Online, although about 20% more expensive. For large sites, a site license is now less expensive than under the previous scheme of 2000. For small sites (FTE < 3000), however, the price for print+online now is a factor 2...3 higher ($1400...2600). Under the old scheme, such libraries paid between $1,200 (=A3850) and $1,500 (=A3930) for the site license, whic= h included one print subscription to Nature ($775/=A3370); now they pay $1,80= 0 (=A31,200) or $3,000 (=A32,000) in addition to the $775 (=A3370) for the pr= int subscription (no longer included in the license fee). Institutions which want to provide access to all Nature titles in Print+Online will typically have to pay about 60% more than under the previous pricing scheme valid in 2000 (under the proviso that they would have licensed the monthlies and reviews for a single site only; otherwise they will pay probably less now). One question remains: will the site licenses to be published on May 1 provide perpetual electronic access to licensed content, beyond the duration of the license? This had been a central requirement put forward in various protest letters from the library community.
