MINITEX ELECTRONIC RESOURCES LIBRARIAN MINITEX Library Information Network invites nominations and applications for the position of Electronic Resources Librarian. The Electronic Resources Librarian will work with MINITEX staff and libraries in the MINITEX region to assist in the re view, selection, licensing, and evaluation of electronic information resources from various vendors on behalf of participating libraries. The incumbent will both lead and support collaborative acquisition and negotiation to achieve economies of scale for libraries. MINITEX is a publicly supported network of libraries in Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota, working cooperatively to improve library services. MINITEX is a program of the Minnesota Higher Education Services Of fice and is located at the University of Minnesota. The mission of MINITEX is to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of participating libraries by expanding their access to information resources through conventional and innovative means. MINITEX provides substantial opportunities for personal and professional development. Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the MINITEX Assistant Director and Electronic Resources Officer, the Electronic Resources Librar ian is responsible for participating in identifying, evaluating, selecting, licensing, and promoting a wide variety of electronic resources for all types of libraries in the three-state MINITEX region. Working closely with MINITEX Cooperative Purchasing staff, incumbent will plan and implement new offers, communicate with and act as a liaison between libraries and vendors, consult with libraries regarding access to and delivery of electronic resources in a collaborative environment, collect and evaluate usage statistics, and assist libraries in use of electronic resources. Commitment to professional growth and development and developing skills required to maintain a high level of professional proficiency are expected. Establishing good working relationships with colleagues and staff of participating libraries, vendors, and MINITEX is essential. Required Qualifications: Academic: ALA-accredited master's degree in library science or foreign equivalent completed at the time of application. Experience: Minimum 2 years professional library experience in reference, collection development, acquisitions, the publishing industry, or comparable environment; demonstrated organizational skills; ability to handle multiple priorities and projects; ability to work independently and in a team; excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills; excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with a diverse clientele; strong commitment to excellent customer service; up-to-date knowledge of current practices in the field of electronic access to information; ability to travel. Desired Qualifications: Successful experience negotiating and administering licenses or cooperative agreements for electronic resources; flexibility in adapting to rapid change; library consortium experience; experience in marketing information services; familiarity with using statistical data to facilitate decision making. Appointment: This position is available immediately. It is a full-time, 12-month, academic/professional position at the Assistant Librarian rank. MINITEX offers a competitive salary, commensurate with experience but not less than $38,000, for this position.
