Re: Interlibrary loan and electronic journals

Jim O'Donnell's response to Paul Gherman, focusing on the implications of
"pre-purchasing" journal articles, suggests a further possibility: think we
could interest the Chicago Board of Trade in making a market in journal
article futures?

<digression> If journal article access rights *were* traded as commodities,
I should think that academic librarians, who are well positioned to view
both the supply and demand sides, would be well positioned to make a
killing in that market. </digression>
