MacArthur to Samuelson

From: Peter Graham, Rutgers University Libraries

The NYTimes reports this morning that Pamela Samuelson has been awarded a
MacArthur grant for her work on intellectual property. Congratulations to
her, and to the foundation for recognizing an important area as well as an
effective person. --pg

[MOD NOTE: Ms. Samuelson writes us: "The award is a sign that believing
in balance in copyright law is the right thing to do, and librarians
deserve a lot of credit for keeping that flag flying and rallying others
to the cause." We say, BRAVO. Samuelson is a faculty member at the
University of California, Berkeley, with joint appointments in Boalt Hall
(law school) and the School of Information Mangement. Known for her
extensive writing about copyright and particularly the relationship of
copyright and new technologies, she also served on the Association of
American Universities/Association of Research Libraries as a member of the
Working Group on Intellectual Property through April 1996 when that group
completed its work.]
