Posting on behalf of Judy Jeng...

American Library Association Annual Conference
Chicago, Illinois
Program Announcement
LITA Standards Interest Group

WHEN: Saturday, July 11, 2009, 3:30-5:30 p.m.

WHERE: Palmer House, Chicago Room

TOPIC: SERU (Shared E-Resources Understanding)

SPEAKER: Clinton K. Chamberlain, Coordinator for Electronic
Resource Acquisitions, University of Texas at Austin

SERU (Shared E-Resources Understanding), a NISO recommended
practice designed to help relieve both librarians and publishers
of labor-intensive license negotiations, is seeing adoption by a
growing number of libraries, publishers, and consortia. This
program will provide attendees with an understanding of the
history, development, and application of SERU, and will
demonstrate situations in which the adoption of SERU could serve
as an alternative to license agreements.

The 2nd part of the program will be NISO updates from Todd
Carpenter, Managing Director, National Information Standards
Organization (NISO).

We are also calling for volunteers to serve as Chair-Elect for
2009/2010 and then as Chair for 2010/2011. Please send your
nomination or self-nomination to jengj@acm.org.
