Announcement: SSP Travel Grant Program

Hello: on behalf of the Society for Scholarly Publishing, I would
like to forward information on the SSP Travel Grant program,
which will be of interest to members of the Liblicense listserv:

Announcing: Travel Grants Sponsored by the Society for Scholarly
Publishing. Application deadline is March 15, 2009.

Students and Early Career Professionals: apply for a travel grant
to attend the Annual Meeting of the Society for Scholarly
Publishing (SSP) in May, 2009.

Professional and Scholarly Publishers: support the development
and growth of staff and colleagues in your organization by
encouraging them to apply for a Society for Scholarly Publishing
travel grant.

This travel grant program is designed to introduce students of
publishing and information science, together with early career
publishing professionals in the first three years of employment,
to the many educational and networking opportunities available at
the popular and informative SSP annual meeting. The program
includes several components that will help grant awardees
optimize their experience. Awardees will be paired with mentors
who hold senior management positions within SSP member
organizations. Mentors will help grantees plug into the
educational and networking opportunities available at the Annual
Conference. Additionally, the Conference Program will offer
several opportunities designed to engage those who are relatively
new to the industry.

Successful applicants will be granted free registration at the
Annual Meeting and will be eligible for re-imbursement of up to
$1,000 for travel and lodging expenses incurred to attend the SSP
annual meeting, to be held May 27-29 in the Marriott Baltimore
Waterfront Hotel, Baltimore MD.

Applications must be completed online; application forms are
available at http://www.sspnet.org. The application deadline is
March 15, 2009. Grant awardees will be selected and notified by
March 31, 2009. To find out more on what 2008's awardees gained
from the experience, see:
