For those attempting to identify a conceptual model ("Where does 
this fit in?") for the recently announced Hathi Trust repository 
consortium, the following book may provide guidance on a 
theoretical level:

"Seeing What's Next: Using the Theories of Innovation to Predict 
Industry Change," By Clayton M. Christensen, Scott D. Anthony, 
Erik A. Roth Published by Harvard Business Press, 2004 ISBN 
1591391857, 9781591391852

This is a very good book.  It was written well before Hathi Trust 
was announced.  It includes a chapter or two on higher education. 
Presumably some members of this list are already familiar with 
Christensen's "Innovator's Dilemma."
