Re: COUNTER Executive Committee Nominations

I noticed this paragraph:

"In replacing Christine Fyfe and David Goodman, the Board of
Directors of COUNTER is keen to consider any suitably qualified
candidates and encourages nominations to be submitted. In order
to maintain an appropriate balance on the Executive Committee we
are seeking to appoint two candidates from the academic library
community. Candidates should hold a senior position and have a
good understanding of the strategic role of usage statistics in
the management of library resources."

I do not see any public library representatives on the Executive
Committee at this time. Shouldn't these positions consider
representation from the public library field? I don't see any
public libraries listed on the Board, Executive Committee, or
International Advisory Board.

Subject: Nominations sought for new COUNTER Executive Committee members

Nominations for new members sought

Two of the founding members of the COUNTER Executive Committee,
Christine Fyfe and David Goodman, have recently decided to step
down from this committee, as their professional roles have moved
away from an involvement with usage statistics. David is now
principally engaged as an Administrator on Wikipedia, while
Christine has been appointed to the role of Pro-Vice-Chancellor
at the University of Leicester, although retaining her overall
responsibility as University Librarian. This has, therefore,
created two vacancies on the Executive Committee, which the Board
of Directors of COUNTER is now seeking to fill.

The COUNTER Executive Committee has overall responsibility for
the direction and management of COUNTER. It meets 5-6 times per
annum, with most members participating via a telephone conference
call facility. Peter Shepherd, the Director responsible for the
day-to-day management of COUNTER, is a member of the Executive
Committee and reports to it. The Executive Committee includes
representatives of the publisher, intermediary, library and
library consortium communities.

In replacing Christine Fyfe and David Goodman, the Board of
Directors of COUNTER is keen to consider any suitably qualified
candidates and encourages nominations to be submitted. In order
to maintain an appropriate balance on the Executive Committee we
are seeking to appoint two candidates from the academic library
community. Candidates should hold a senior position and have a
good understanding of the strategic role of usage statistics in
the management of library resources.

Nominations, which should be seconded, may be sent by email to
Peter Shepherd at pshepherd@projectCounter.org to arrive no later
than Friday November 23, 2007. The candidate, nominator and
seconder should be openly copied on any email nominations
submitted.

Executive Committee members serve for a term of three years,
which is renewable.

Any queries about the role of the Executive Committee, or this
appointment process may be directed to Peter Shepherd. The
current membership of the COUNTER Executive Committee may be
found on the COUNTER website at:
