Job Posting: New York University E-resources Librarian



New York University's Division of Libraries seeks an enthusiastic and skilled Electronic Resources Librarian to provide leadership and expertise in acquiring and integrating electronic resources in the Libraries collections. Based in the Acquisitions Department, the Electronic Resources Librarian also works collaboratively with staff in other areas including collection development, reference, information technology, and cataloging to identify, license, and manage ongoing access to electronic resources. The Electronic Resources Librarian reports directly to the Head of Acquisitions with a secondary reporting relationship to the Head of Collection Development.

The Electronic Resources Librarian coordinates the acquisition, processing, and maintenance of the networked electronic resources selected for NYU's Division of Libraries. The successful incumbent will oversee the electronic resources management infrastructure and coordinate the e-resources management team - consisting of staff and librarians in the acquisitions, cataloging, and collection development departments - charged with ordering and processing of all electronic resources. The incumbent also works closely with subject librarians and the Electronic Resources Committee responsible for the selection of digital resources.

*Duties include*: working with Collection Development, assist with the identification of electronic resources for consideration and interact with publishers, vendors and aggregators to acquire, establish and maintain access to electronic resources; establish product trials for evaluation; with the Head of Collection Development, review and negotiate license and contract terms related to electronic resources; work closely with the Special Formats Cataloger and Serials & E-resources Unit Supervisor on electronic resource access and management issues; and assist the Head of Acquisitions with the preparation of management reports and provision of statistical and budget analysis related to electronic resources. The Electronic Resources Librarian also provides leadership in developing and maintaining awareness of emerging technologies, standards, and technical issues related to the acquisition, licensing, access, and usage of electronic resources; recommends and implements new initiatives for managing and processing electronic resources; and collaborates with library staff in other departments, maintaining open communication channels, and participating on library-wide teams.

*Qualifications:* ALA accredited MLS and subject Master's degree required for tenure.* *Minimum three years of relevant library experience; demonstrated communication skills; ability to interact with diverse teams and to effectively communicate abstract ideas. Incumbent should be self-directed, flexible and adaptable to change, analytical and results-oriented. Experience working in team environments. Preferred: Strong understanding of serials acquisitions; familiarity with business principles and practices; experience with Library system. Familiarity with trends in serials management and electronic resources/publishing*.

*Salary/Benefits*: Faculty status and attractive benefits package, including five weeks annual vacation. Salary is commensurate with experience and background.
