ANNOUNCEMENT OF PROFESSIONAL VACANCY

POSITION:	Electronic Resources Access Librarian
AVAILABLE:	February 1, 2007
DESCRIPTION

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks an 
energetic, service-oriented individual to provide e-resources and 
access data management expertise for the newly created position 
of Electronic Resources Access Librarian.

The Electronic Resources Access Librarian will work closely with the
Head of Electronic Resources to:

*	Manage day-to-day acquisitions, receipt, and access functions;
*	Report, respond to, investigate, and resolve performance issues
 	related to access and maintenance of electronic resources;
*	Direct data management for acquisition and access to electronic
 	resources, including  ILS record management, Serials
 	Solutions data management, and local electronic resources
 	and database records;
*	Serve as liaison to the Print Serials Section for issues,
 	policies, and procedures related to overlapping orders,
 	receipts, and invoices;
*	Resolve complex problems related to orders, renewals, and
 	access;
*	Supervise one support staff and several student assistants; and
*	Participate in library committees and professional activities.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:  ALA-accredited Masters degree with a demonstrated 
interest in electronic resources through coursework, internships, 
practicums, assistantships, or work experience. Knowledge and 
proficiency with online library systems and spreadsheets. Strong 
analytical and problem solving skills with a commitment to 
customer service. Effective organization, time management, and 
communication skills.  Ability to work cooperatively and flexibly 
with a variety of staff in a rapidly changing environment.

Preferred:  Experience with serials acquisitions, database 
applications, and manipulating large datasets; familiarity with 
e-journal and e-book management issues; knowledge of serials 
publishers, vendors, and Innovative's Millennium system. 
Experience supervising staff.

This is a twelve-month academic librarian appointment; salary is 
commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Standard state
