The Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) and=20
Association for Research Libraries (ARL) seek applicants for the=20
first Scholarly Communication Institute, to be held in Los=20
Angeles, July 12-14, 2006. The deadline for application is March=20

individuals.

Participants will:

=B7 Build expertise for their libraries and campuses
=B7 Design a collaborative program for their institutions
=B7 Explore strategies for creating systemic change

This jointly sponsored institute offers tools and techniques to=20

program to the next level. Participants will assess their campus=20
environment before the institute, engage in two-and-one half=20
intensive days of active learning, and develop customized=20
outreach plans to implement at their home institutions.

The institute sponsors seek participants from a variety of=20
institution types and sizes. They encourage large institutions to=20
submit applications from small teams of no more than three=20

library administrators, faculty, and campus administrators.=20
Applicants should articulate realistic goals for a campus plan=20
and demonstrate institutional support for, or readiness to=20
support, a plan. Selection is on a competitive basis.
