Blackwell Publishing Appoints Vice President of Journal Sales



Boston, MA-September 12, 2005-Society publisher, Blackwell Publishing,
announced the appointment of Barbara Kaplan to Vice President of Journal
Sales in the Americas today.  Barbara will be responsible for fulfilling
the specific needs of consortia and building new partnerships with
corporate, academic, and government institutions.  She will report to
Gordon Tibbitts, Blackwell Publishing's U.S. President, and will be based
at Blackwell Publishing's U.S. office.

This newly-created appointment reflects the growth and depth of
Blackwell's journals collection and its commitment to ensuring that its
partners have access to the best scholarly journals in their fields.
Barbara will support this goal by fostering this access and providing
clients with the service they expect from Blackwell.

Commenting on the appointment, Gordon Tibbitts said, "Barbara is a great
addition to our senior management team. Her vast experience working with
consortia combined with her insight in customer relationship management
will enable her to lead our team as we look for opportunities to expand
our services."

Barbara brings more than 15 years of sales and client services experience
in the publishing industry to Blackwell.  Before joining Blackwell, she
held senior positions at Elsevier and Grolier Educational Services. She
worked closely with academic, library, corporate, and government
communities. Her experience in building teams that focus on client
satisfaction will help Blackwell better understand the goals, experiences,
and objectives of their clients.
