Three Illinois Academic Library Consortia merge

This spring the membership of the Illinois Cooperative Collection
Management Program (ICCMP), the Illinois Digital Academic Library (IDAL)
and the Illinois Library Computer Systems Organization (ILCSO) authorized
the consolidation of these three groups into a new consortium: the
Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Illinois (CARLI).

CARLI will begin operations on July 1, 2005, and will serve more than 150
academic and research libraries located throughout the state of Illinois.
For a list of CARLI member libraries, see:
http://www.carli.illinois.edu/members.html.

CARLI was formed to improve the efficiency and cost effectiveness of
services, increase the effectiveness of consortial and member library
staff efforts, and create opportunities to pursue new programs and
services that the three constituent consortia would not have been able to
provide on their own. The University of Illinois serves as the fiscal and
contractual agent for the consortium under a memorandum of agreement.
