Arie Jongejan Appointed New CEO at Swets

Swets Welcomes Industry Innovator to its Ranks

Swets Information Services is delighted to announce the appointment of
Arie Jongejan, a visionary leader in scientific publishing, as Swets' new
CEO.

During an impressive career at Elsevier, Mr. Jongejan held a range of
senior management positions. A member of Elsevier's Board since 1998, he
has also served as the CEO of Elsevier's Science & Technology Division. As
CEO, Mr. Jongejan was responsible for the commercial and technical
innovation of ScienceDirect and Scopus, developing them into Elsevier's
core business.

"We are extremely pleased to welcome Arie Jongejan as our new CEO. Arie is
recognized as one of the driving forces behind Elsevier's successes,"
noted Paul de Bruin, the Chairman of Swets' Supervisory Board and Interim
CEO, "Both his extensive expertise in e-business models and his ability to
manage complex international organizations and provide focus, transparency
and team spirit should prove invaluable to Swets and our customers."

"After workingwith a majorpublisherfor over two decades, it is truly
exciting for me toexplore a new side of this rapidly changing industry.I
know Swets as a company with a long-standing reputationand as a trusted
partner. While this industry hasseen many changes in the past and
undoubtedlyfaces many more in the years ahead,Swets has proven its added
value to both customers and publishers for over a hundred years and is
well positioned tofoster itspivotal role in the world of information
exchange," said Arie Jongejan.

He continued, "Electronic media hasopened up new markets bringing
innovative products andservices to the industry. However, what hasn't
changed is the need of institutional academic and corporate customers for
one-stop-shopservices that agents like Swets provide. I see great
opportunitiesfor Swets, a company that has both the right position and
people, toextenditsrole into these new directions. It goes without
saying that I look forward toworking together with customers and
publishersto helpexplorethesesharedinterests."
