Publisher and Customer Advisory Boards Guide Swets in E-Journals
Management Drive

Swets enrolls industry experts to optimize customer and publisher service

Swets Information Services announced today that it has founded two new
industry advisory boards to assist in their e-journal management drive.
Prominent members of the library and publisher communities have agreed to
serve on the newly formed International Customer Advisory Board (ICAB) and
International Publisher Advisory Board (IPAB). The boards will advise
Swets' senior management on how to continue adding value in the
information management chain.

The International Customer Advisory Board will represent the customer
viewpoint on Swets' future service and product development. ICAB members
are drawn from senior academic and corporate library and information staff
representing Swets' global customer base, including: Stanford University
in the US, University of Western Ontario in Canada, York University in the
UK, INIST-CNRS in France, University of Lund in Sweden, Bayerische
Staatsbibliothek in Germany, Katholieke Universiteit in Leuven, Belgium,
National Taiwan University and University of Queensland in Brisbane,
Australia as well as Shell and Schering.

The International Publisher Advisory Board will also work closely with
Swets in its e-journal management drive from forming and testing concepts
to giving structured feedback on new products and partnering with opinion
leaders in developing new solutions. The following publishers are
represented in the IPAB: The American Chemical Society, Blackwell
Publishing, CSA (Cambridge Scientific Abstracts), CSIRO Publishing,
Elsevier, IEEE, Georg Thieme Verlag, Masson, OECD, Oxford University
Press, Springer, Taylor & Francis, Walter de Gruyter and Wiley.

Several customer and publisher advisors will serve as in depth
beta-testing partners for new services such as the SwetsWise Title Bank.
Scheduled for launch in mid 2004, Swets' user-friendly new solution will
enable clients to maximize control over their electronic resources by
customizing their entire list of electronic subscription links and
receiving full text access to all their titles.

"Swets' International Customer and Publisher Advisory Boards will play a
crucial role in helping us to simplify the entire chain of e-journal
complexities and liaising with key information providers and users." noted
Eric van Amerongen, Swets' Chief Executive Officer, "We are delighted that
this select group of industry experts will assist us in our mission to be
the premier outsourcing partner for the acquisition, access and management
of scholarly, business and professional information."
