JE: One of the things we do with our corporate customers (we have very
few academic customers, alas) is guarantee prices for the term of a
three-year license. It works for us because it (a) reduces our cost of
sale and (b) provides stable financial projections, which in turn reduces
our cost of capital. Not every customer is permitted to sign multi-year
deals, however.
