Re: question about quotations



The online aggregator database does not own the copyright in the articles,
the publisher (usually) does. Proquest has merely a license to distribute
the material. I would assume that for short excerpts, the usual fair use
rules apply, even though possibly the publisher would claim otherwise.
(This does not hold, of course, for reproducing entire articles) This is
especially true because you are not making public distribution of the
material. Not a legal opinion, just my personal advice based on what I
think most of us do in similar situations.
