PUBLIC POLICY ISSUES
Visit the Government Affairs section of the SIIA website for updates on the
following issues:

PRIVACY

SIIA is continuing to work vigorously to ensure that proposed privacy
legislation recognize the need for personalization of the consumer
experience, recognize that the private sector is working to address
consumer confidence surrounding protection of privacy, and to avoid
government micromanaging privacy protections. View letter to Senate
Commerce Committee:

DIGITAL RIGHTS MANAGEMENT (DRM)

On April 30th, SIIA sent a letter to Senator Fritz Hollings, Chairman of
the Senate Commerce Committee stating our strong opposition to S. 2048,
the "Consumer Broadband and Digital Television Promotion Act." View the

SIIA COMMENTS ON E-RATE

On April 5th, SIIA submitted comments to the Federal Communications
Commission (FCC) regarding the Schools and Libraries Universal Service
Support Mechanism-better known as the E-Rate. SIIA encouraged the FCC to
pursue program changes that appropriately recognize evolving technologies
and related delivery models, while cautioning against overly prescriptive
rules that may threaten the principle of competitive neutrality and the
goal of program efficiency. View the comments:
