Re: Site License Change for the American Society forMicrobiology's Online Journals

Daphne,

Thanks for this announcement. I have one major problem with the license,
which is forbidding remote access. We allow access to our electronic
products by DePaul Univ. IP address range, with the addition of a proxy
server which allows DePaul people to come in from AOL or other ISPs.
Remote access is really a basic service for electronic subscriptions. Is
there any consideration given to removing that clause from the license?
We would be very interested in adding ASM online journals, but your
license precludes that possibility.

The American Society for Microbiology (ASM) is pleased to announce that
its 2001 institutional site license will include access to current,
full-text articles in both HTML and PDF formats. This is a change from
our 2000 site license, which provides access to articles in the HTML
format only. In addition, there will be no increase in subscription
prices (either print or online) from 2000 to 2001. The 2001 site license
and prices will be posted on our website by the end of the week at:
http://www.journals.asm.org/subscriptions.

Sincerely,
